Find The Best Apartments Near Ohio University

By Mary Hayes

When attending college, you want to ensure you have your books and your classes paid for, and that you have enough food to fuel your brain so you can do your work. But you also must ensure you have a roof over your head, and campus dorms may not cut it for you. If so, then you will need to find apartments near Ohio University so that you have a place to sleep.

The great Ohio University was first chartered in 1787, and since then has been the home of hundreds of thousands of students through the years. It is located in Athens, OH and has made this city a true college town that is thriving. Generally, the University will house 36,000 students or more, which includes both full time, graduate, and part time students.

Living in dormitories is great for Freshmen or people who do not mind sharing bathrooms and having a roommate. For those who prefer more space or are older and do not wish to live among teenagers, finding your own place off campus is a must. If you are on a budget, there are plenty of places nearby that are bare bones. They have no furniture or amenities, but do have all the basics and are quite affordable.

If you are from out of town and need a place with a bed and sofa, furnished units are available for a little extra. Most come with the basics, such as a sofa, coffee table, and bed. It is still up to you to bring dishes, kitchenware, towels and other things necessary for apartment living. These complexes are used to students living there, so know when to have the apartment ready before school starts, so you can move in right away without any issues.

There are also many luxury apartments in the area, so you can live the high end life if you want. These come in a range of sizes depending on your needs, and have specialty items such as gyms or fitness rooms on site, and laundry machines in the unit or a facility on the grounds.

Beyond the apartment extras, you may also have other extras in the building. Some have public spaces like a lobby for guests or other spaces where you can meet fellow tenants and watch a movie or just say hello. If you want to throw a party and your place is not big enough for all the guests, you may have a clubhouse available.

You can choose a studio or one bedroom if you want to live alone. However, if you are on a strict budget and need to save money, getting one or more roommates is the best way to go, as you can split the expenses to save some dough. There are plenty of options in the area with three or even four bedrooms.

Thankfully, many places are within walking distance of the school, so you can save even more money by not having to own a car. If you get a place further away, you can instead use public transportation. There are also many restaurants that are open late, book stores, and coffee houses nearby that are perfect for the student life.
