Saving Money On Back To School Items

By Cornelius Nunev

It is time again to equip your children for the upcoming school year. However, if you are like most Americans, despite inflation, you aren't making any more cash than you did last year. So we offer just a little information on how you can keep your children and their school happy, while staying on your budget.

All the shopping experiences for school

There is one problem with back to school time even though it is the second largest shopping season of the year and stores offer a lot of great bargains to get you in.

President and Executive Director of Clarifi, Patricia Hasson, said:

"Wait for the list [of supplies required by the school]. It's easy to be tempted right now with all these great offers that they are advertising right now, except in a lot of cases you're not even sure what the school is going to require you to get."

However, some things are a given, and there is no reason not to benefit from current deals on those things.

Back to school electronic devices

Whenever you are attempting to get big discounts on computers, iPads, notebook computers and more, back to school time is the very best time of year, according to author David Bach who spoke with NBC recently. He said that families spend $217 on average at back to school time getting new electronic devices.

Your student most likely cannot wait much longer anyway, so we stick with Bach in spite of the fact that CBS's Kristen Guilfoos says that those items will not be cheapest until Black Friday at the end of Nov.

You can get things online and refurbished and pay a lot less for them too.

Getting other supplies

According to Bach:

"September is the best time to shop for everything else."

Real deals will not start on things until after school begins, he suggests, so he tells people to wait as long as possible. If you can wait on just a couple supplies for the bargains to kick in, do it.

DealNews.com is the complete opposite of Bach though:

"There's really no incentive to hold off on purchasing school supplies. A lot of stores like Staples and Office Max, they're offering special promotions that just won't get any better after the school year starts."

We recommend bargain outlets and getting in bulk. Some materials can even be found at Dollar Store outlets. After all, standard-grade paper and pens are virtually the same wherever you get them from.

Back to school clothing

You have to search for bargains online and in stores in case you are going to get your children the latest fashions and save money.

Sakraida said:

"Typically September and October are the best times to buy jeans because they're trying to unload what didn't sell in the back to school sales."

There are a ton of major discounts you can try to find at brand name stores. If you need until school begins, you can find Abercrombie clothing for $20.
